As was the case last year, the Pittsburgh Steelers are in the market for a wide receiver upgrade.
It looked like Pittsburgh had finally solved its need by trading for DK Metcalf earlier this offseason, but the need popped back up again following the Steelers trading George Pickens to the Dallas Cowboys this week.
We still don't know who's going to be throwing the football in Pittsburgh thanks to the never-ending Aaron Rodgers saga, but we do know the Steelers need more firepower in their offense after a lackluster showing from the unit in 2024.
In order to replace Pickens in the offense and add more explosiveness to the unit, Last Word on Sports' Liam Rebellato proposes a trade between the Steelers and Miami Dolphins that lands superstar wideout Tyreek Hill in Pittsburgh.
"Amid offseason drama, Tyreek Hill could become a Steelers (wide receiver) target," Rebellato explained. "While highly unlikely, his game-breaking speed would instantly elevate Pittsburgh’s offense if Miami chooses to move on. Pittsburgh would have to make a call if Hill did become available."
Trade speculation has been swirling around Hill ever since he said he wanted out of Miami at the end of the 2024 campaign. However, Hill has since walked back those comments, although he has sent some mixed signals on social media this offseason to keep the speculation alive.
It goes without saying that Hill would be a massive addition for Pittsburgh. Hill is one of the elite playmakers in the NFL and would add a much-needed explosive element to Pittsburgh's offense, as well as a great running mate for DK Metcalf, giving Pittsburgh one of the best one-two punches at receiver in the league.
Hill is coming off a down year, but he was also battling a wrist injury and didn't have Tua Tagovailoa for a handful of contests due to his latest concussion. Hill would have a great opportunity to bounce back with the Steelers, assuming the team can ultimately land Aaron Rodgers.
Hill would likely cost a Day 2 pick in a trade, but the Steelers are projected to have four to spare for next year's draft, so they can afford that kind of investment. The eight-time Pro Bowler has two more years left on his $90 million contract, so he wouldn't just be a rental.
