The Steelers’ offensive line depth continues to be tested late in the season.
Pittsburgh announced Wednesday that offensive lineman Calvin Anderson has been placed on injured reserve, marking yet another hit to an already banged-up tackle group. Anderson suffered a knee injury during practice last week, becoming the third offensive tackle the Steelers have lost over the past three weeks.
The injury issues began when starting left tackle Broderick Jones was placed on injured reserve with a neck injury. That was followed by Anderson going down in practice, and then Andrus Peat leaving the Week 14 win over the Ravens with a concussion. In a matter of weeks, Pittsburgh has gone from solid depth on the edge to scrambling for healthy bodies.
To help stabilize the situation, the Steelers promoted offensive tackle Dylan Cook from the practice squad to the active roster. Cook is now in the mix to start against the Dolphins on Monday Night Football.
Cook has been in the organization since 2023 but didn’t see any regular-season action until Sunday. He was pressed into duty after Peat was ruled out and finished the game by playing the final 13 offensive snaps.
With the postseason race tightening and another matchup with Baltimore looming, how the Steelers handle the offensive line may play a major role in how the rest of their season unfolds.
