Since the trade for cornerback Jalen Ramsey, who was acquired in a deal that sent Minkah Fitzpatrick to the Miami Dolphins, many have wondered if the Pittsburgh Steelers might consider moving Ramsey to safety to fill the void.

Ramsey has played sparingly at the position during his career, but there are some who think that might be his best spot at this stage of his career.

Based on video coming out of Steelers training camp, it appears the Steelers might be thinking about playing Ramsey at safety.

During the team's first practice on Thursday, Ramsey spent some time working with the position group, according to Alan Saunders of Steelers Now.

When it came to team period, however, Ramsey also saw time at nickel and outside cornerback, per Nick Farabaugh of PennLive.com.

On Wednesday, head coach Mike Tomlin revealed he planned on having Ramsey, Darius Slay and Joey Porter on the field together at all times.

"We're going to start him regardless," Tomlin said of Ramsey, per Steelers.com. "Where we move him around and things really depends on what offenses are doing. Make no mistake, those top three corners – Jalen Ramsey, Slay, and Joey Porter Jr. – they're going be on the field, and I don't care what (personnel grouping) offenses come out in. They're coverage people.

"Describe them however you wish to describe them," he added. "They're capable of covering eligibles and minimizing the time and the successfulness of offensive passing games."

More likely than not, Ramsey will probably play cornerback primarily, whether that be in the slot or on the boundary, but clearly the door is open for him to see time at safety, also.
