The Pittsburgh Steelers made a few roster moves ahead of their Sunday night game against the Los Angeles Chargers, but it's one move they didn't make that is catching everyone's attention.

The Steelers announced Saturday that they are elevating linebacker Mark Robinson from the practice squad for Week 10. They also signed running back Trey Sermon to the 53-man roster and defensive lineman DeMarvin Leal to the practice squad.

The move they didn't make was elevating wide receiver Marquez Valdes-Scantling to the active roster for Sunday's contest, which means the veteran won't be making his Steelers debut this week.

Pittsburgh officially signed the veteran wideout on the same day the trade deadline passed, which was Tuesday. Pittsburgh was unable to trade for an impact wide receiver, but it wasn't for a lack of trying.

The Steelers were in on trades for Jakobi Meyers and Rashid Shaheed, according to reports, and while both receivers were allowed to choose where they wanted to end up with offers being equal, Meyers chose the Jacksonville Jaguars over the Steelers, and Shaheed decided he wanted to go to the Seattle Seahawks over Pittsburgh.

That leaves MVS as the lone addition for a Steelers offense that lacks reliable pass-catchers. Unfortunately, he is anything but guaranteed to move the needle.

MVS signed with the Seahawks in free agency during the offseason, but he couldn't even make the 53-man roster despite Seattle's clear need for veteran wideouts.

He then latched on with the San Francisco 49ers, a team he chose over the Steelers. Things did not pan out for Valdes-Scantling there, as he caught just four balls for 40 yards in five games before eventually being released with an injury settlement.

MVS now gets to reunite with Aaron Rodgers, which was the driving force behind his decision to go to Pittsburgh, he told reporters during the week.

However, we'll have to wait at least one more week to see the old teammates reconnect on the football field.
