There is some positive news to report on Pittsburgh Steelers running back Jaylen Warren, who is now questionable to play against the Miami Dolphins.
The Steelers expectedly announced on Monday morning that Warren is questionable to play in Week 15 because of an illness.
However, NFL Network's Tom Pelissero is reporting that Warren is "optimistic" about his chances of playing in Week 15. Pelissero adds that Warren woke up sick on Monday and is now getting fluids.
"Jaylen Warren woke up sick and is getting fluids, but I'm told he's optimistic about playing tonight," Pelissero reported.
It's pretty rare for a player to miss a game due to an illness, so that's a reason for optimism when it comes to Warren.
We also know Warren's mentality is going to make it extremely difficult for an illness to keep him out, especially in what is a huge game for the Steelers in Week 15.
If Warren can't go, Kenneth Gainwell will take on the bulk of the work, with rookie Kaleb Johnson mixing in to spell him.
Gainwell, who is having a strong season overall, has filled in for Warren before.
Back in Week 4, when Warren was out with an injury, Gainwell shined to the tune of 99 rushing yards, 35 receiving yards and two touchdowns on the ground.
There is also a scenario where the Steelers make Warren active but limit his reps if he isn't feeling 100%. In that instance, Gainwell would also benefit.
For now, we expect Warren to play, but we'll know for sure when the Steelers drop their list of inactives an hour and a half before kickoff on Monday night.
