Omar Khan is here to stay as Pittsburgh Steelers general manager.
The team announced on Thursday that they signed Khan to a three-year extension, meaning he is contractually tied to Pittsburgh through at least the 2028 season.
Here is what Khan had to say about his extension:
"I would like to thank Art Rooney II for his support," said Khan. "I believe we are building a championship roster and look forward to the 2025 season and beyond as our goals continue to be to bring another Super Bowl to the City of Pittsburgh and our great fans."
Khan was promoted to general manager after the 2022 NFL Draft as Kevin Colbert's successor. Khan has done a decent job building the Steelers into a playoff contender, but the team has yet to win a playoff game during his tenure as general manager so far.
The Steelers have been aggressive this offseason, making multiple blockbuster trades for key players and bringing in a new quarterback in Aaron Rodgers. Khan's aggression and vision for the future have landed him an extension, but fans had mixed reactions to the news on Wednesday.
Some fans are excited to see Khan stay for the future, while others question the timing, as superstar edge rusher T.J. Watt's contract is the big topic right now in Pittsburgh.
Well deserved making moves the Steelers needed to do for a long time.

When people suggested the team should think about tanking, he proved them he’s a GM who builds contenders, not quitters.
That's what I need as a fan : a will to win, and a strategy to achieve that.
Khan is now under contract until at least 2028, but he should now turn all his attention towards signing Watt to a new deal. The superstar edge rusher is unhappy with his current situation and skipped mandatory minicamp in June as a result. Trade rumors surrounding the future Hall of Famer have also grown in the last week.
We'll see if Khan can get an extension done with Watt before the season, which should be his No.1 priority.
