Pittsburgh Steelers running back Jaylen Warren was expected to be the team's lead back, at least to start the season, and rookie Kaleb Johnson was expected to have at least a small role.
Warren inked a two-year extension recently, which keeps him in Pittsburgh for the long haul. And, with Najee Harris gone and the Steelers not signing an established veteran to replace him, Warren is going to be the featured back this season.
However, the Steelers veteran and rookie are off to very quiet starts in the Week 1 game against the New York Jets and hasn't gotten the kind of work we expected.
Here's what we know about Warren's slow start.
Are Jaylen Warren, Kaleb Johnson playing today?
Both players are active and, as far as we know, healthy, they just hasn't gotten many opportunities. As of this writing, Warren has just one carry for zero yards and hasn't been targeted in the passing game, and Johnson doesn't have any touches.
Meanwhile, Kenneth Gainwell has four carries for 12 yards and has clearly played ahead of both backs. Hopefully for fantasy owners, that changes soon.
