The Philadelphia Eagles are facing the possibility of not having defensive lineman Jalen Carter for yet another game if he gets suspended by the NFL.

According to CBS Sports' Jonathan Jones, the league has not ruled out giving Carter a one-game ban after he spit on Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott in Week 1, which led to his ejection.

And, if that happens, Jones revealed that the remaining guarantees in Carter's rookie contract, which runs through 2027 when including the fifth-year option, would be voided.

"But if he's suspended by the league for spitting on Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott on Thursday night, Carter will feel the financial crunch even more," the insider wrote. "And even a one-game suspension would void his remaining guarantees, according to the terms of his contract obtained by CBS Sports."

Jones adds that Carter's 2025 and 2026 base salaries, along with his roster bonuses for this year and 2026, would be voided in the event he gets suspended.

Carter would also lose a game check worth $57,222 on top of the fine the league is going to hand out to him.

Following the game, Carter was remorseful for his inexcusable act.

"It was a mistake that happened on my side, and it just won't happen again," Carter said. "I feel bad for my teammates and the fans out there. I'm doing it for them. ... Not being able to start the game even, finish the game, it f----- me up, but we're going to get it better. It won't happen again. I can make that promise."

Of course, none of this means the Eagles are going to cut ties with Carter, who is one of the better interior defensive lineman in the NFL and is a major difference-maker on an elite Eagles defense.

However, if Carter runs into future issues and the Eagles want to cut ties with him, it'll be much easier to do so if his guarantees are voided.

The Eagles will meet the Kansas City Chiefs for a Super Bowl rematch in Week 2. We should know at some point during the week whether or not Carter will be available for that contest.
