The Pittsburgh Steelers are never short of finding ways to make headlines. However, this offseason has been all because of the Aaron Rodgers rumblings.
While everybody waits to see when Rodgers will make his decision, those talks only grew stronger. On Saturday, Andrew Fillipponi reported that Rodgers had joined the Nevillewood Country Club in Pittsburgh.
"Red hot rumor: Aaron Rodgers has allegedly joined Nevillewood Country Club. The beautiful suburban Pittsburgh golf course. Designed by Jack Nicklaus. Another sign he’s signing with the Steelers," Fillipponi wrote on Saturday morning.
However, that doesn't appear to be the case, per a report from Pittsburgh CBS reporter Rick Walsh.
This rumor is NOT true. I just spoke with the Club at Nevillewood President Wayne Chiurazzi, who said Aaron Rodgers did not join. The Club would love to have him if he does sign with the Steelers. It is true that Nevillewood is a beautiful Pittsburgh suburban golf course.
Penn State reporter Evan Smith also said the same thing on Saturday.
"Can confirm through personal connections at Nevillewood that Aaron Rodgers has NOT joined the country club as of now."
So, there goes that rumor.
Rodgers joining a golf club in Pittsburgh would be something worthwhile, especially with the constant Steelers free agency link. Why would he want to play golf in Pittsburgh if he was going to retire?
Now, the clock continues to tick for Rodgers and the Steelers.
