Aaron Rodgers injury update finally confirms Steelers QB's Week 12 status image

The Pittsburgh Steelers have reportedly made a decision on quarterback Aaron Rodgers for the Week 12 game against the Chicago Bears.

Rodgers suffered a small fracture in his wrist in Week 11 and was only able to log limited practices before drawing a questionable tag.

According NFL Network's Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero, Rodgers will not suit up in Week 12, as he simply needs more time to get right. Rapoport did add, however, that Rodgers "should play next week."

"Steelers QB Aaron Rodgers has been pushing to play against the Bears, but in the end, it was too quick, per me and Tom Pelissero," Rapoport reported. "Rodgers should play next week, but the turnaround was just too quick. Mason Rudolph starts against the Bears."

This is the right move by the Steelers, as Rodgers is one bad hit away from making the injury worse and missing even more time.

With Rodgers sidelined, the Steelers will deploy Mason Rudolph in his stead, with rookie Will Howard backing Rudolph up.

Rudolph has proven to be a quality backup during his career, so the Steelers are in a better position than most would be in the same spot.

In relief of Rodgers last week, Rudolph completed 12-of-16 passes for 127 yards and one touchdown. If he can turn in another performance like that on Sunday, Pittsburgh will be in good shape.
