Aaron Rodgers wasn’t ready to talk about his future following the Pittsburgh Steelers 30-6 playoff loss to the Houston Texans on Monday night.

Rodgers, who signed just a one-year deal with Pittsburgh last offseason, was obviously disappointed with the outcome of the contest and likely with his own performance as well.

Aaron Rodgers not ready to make decision on future after playoff loss

After the game, the veteran signal-caller said that he didn’t want to make any major decisions regarding his future based on emotion.

“I’m not going to make any emotional decision,” Rodgers said after the game. “Disappointed, obviously. It was such a fun year. Lot of adversity, but a lot of fun. … It’s disappointing to be sitting here with the season over.”

When asked how he’ll approach the decision, Rodgers, 42, says he plans to “get away and have the right conversations.”

While he had some moments, Rodgers largely looked like a shell of his former MVP-self throughout the season in Pittsburgh, and against the Texans, he didn’t necessarily look like a guy with a lot of gas left in the tank.

Rodgers completed just 17 out of 33 passes for 146 yards against the Texans. He had one interception and no touchdowns, and he struggled to push the ball down the field all game, averaging just 4.4 yards per completion. Granted, Houston’s defense is really good, but those were the same struggles that Rodgers had all season.

A recent report suggested that the Steelers would welcome Rodgers back if he wanted to play for another season, but that was before the offense laid an egg in the postseason. Perhaps things have changed.

For now, the Steelers, and the rest of the football world, will have to wait for Rodgers’ decision. He didn’t sign with the Steelers until June last year. Hopefully we won't have to wait that long for an answer this time around.
