Will the Eagles trade A.J. Brown? ESPN analyst lays out good news, bad news in rumors image

The Philadelphia Eagles won the Super Bowl less than a year ago.

But this time around, they're already out of the playoffs, and they're looking at an offseason that could include some major changes, particularly involving A.J. Brown.

His name will be in the headlines whether anything actually happens or not.

After a drama-filled season in which Brown was unhappy off the field and didn't display quite the same chemistry with Jalen Hurts on it, he certainly could be moved.

But will he? That's a much tougher question.

Will the Eagles trade A.J. Brown?

This is something that has ESPN's Bill Barnwell a bit stumped, although the analyst thinks that the Eagles probably wait it out one more year.

"The easiest thing for all parties involved might be giving the relationship one more shot and revisiting this in 2027, when most of the guaranteed money in Brown's deal will have been paid out," Barnwell wrote in a new article on Thursday.

The Eagles still have a strong team, including the offense with Hurts, Saquon Barkley and DeVonta Smith. They can contend again if they get the Brown move right.

"The Eagles would also need to find a replacement for Brown, who remains very efficient on a route-by-route basis," Barnwell writes. "Brown was still sixth in the NFL in receiver score -- down from first in 2024 and second in 2023 -- and it won't be easy to replace that sort of production."

If he doesn't command enough of a return in a trade, the Eagles will be backed into a corner.

But if they want to just avoid a repeat of the season they just had, maybe they move him anyway.

"If the Eagles feel the need to push the eject button on their relationship with their top wideout, Brown will have a fascinating market," Barnwell concludes. "He's still one of the league's best wide receivers, even if he didn't show it against the 49ers."
