At the time of the deal, it looked pretty minimal.
The Jacksonville Jaguars traded running back Tank Bigsby to the Philadelphia Eagles before the season started.
The Jags felt secure in a running back room that still included Travis Etienne, Bhayshul Tuten and LeQuint Allen.
The Eagles were going after a return man more than anything else. They still had AJ Dillon and Will Shipley to help back up Saquon Barkley.

But before the Eagles' bye, when Barkley left Week 8 with a groin injury, it was Bigsby out there who had apparently developed into Barkley's main backup.
That makes the trade all that more important, with the defending Super Bowl champions relying on Barkley but now having added a different RB2 to the mix who is just one injury away from a crucial role.

Jaguars trade Tank Bigsby to Eagles?
The Jags felt they had a surplus.
Bigsby wouldn't have played much with Etienne, Tuten and Allen present.
Initially, Jacksonville probably wanted to see what the rookies Tuten and Allen were capable of. And then both impressed during training camp and the preseason.
That made Bigsby expendable.
The Eagles traded two picks (5th round and 6th round) for Bigsby, which was a solid return for Jacksonville.
And right now, Philly has clearly grown to like Bigsby. It's a win all around.
