Trade idea nets Eagles a second-round pick for this ascending backup image

Philadelphia Eagles general manager Howie Roseman has a reputation for making trades at this time of year.

In a story for The Bleacher Report, Alex Kay suggests another Roseman heist could be on the way. Kay posits one trade each NFL team should propose before the 2025 season, and he has the Eagles turning their 2023 sixth-round pick, Tanner McKee, into a 2026 second-round pick. The quarterback-needy Indianapolis Colts would then slide McKee into a starting role.

"If Philadelphia wants to remain on top, it will need to continue to load up on picks," Kay writes. "The team added to its arsenal by trading backup quarterback Kenny Pickett at the start of the offseason and could land 2026 draft selections by again sending off one of Jalen Hurts' understudies.

"With Tanner McKee showing out in preseason, the Eagles could capitalize on his upside and move him to a club desperate for help under center. The 2023 sixth-rounder has looked like a legitimate starter during his two exhibition appearances and could net a solid return from a team like the Indianapolis Colts."

McKee has had a banner preseason, completing 20 of 25 passes for 252 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions. The 25-year-old was an Honorable Mention All-Pac 12 selection at Stanford in 2021. He declared for the draft after his junior season.

The Colts could certainly use a boost in the quarterback room after former first-round pick Anthony Richardson failed to secure the starting job this preseason. The Colts recently announced that Daniel Jones will be the starter in Week 1.
