The Denver Broncos just reset the NFL market at one of the most important positions on the defensive side of the football, and that means the Philadelphia Eagles have to open up their check book very soon.

While general manager Howie Roseman and the Birds are always on top of handling business with their elite talents, especially on the offensive side of the ball, Philly's young defense will be the next area that the organization has to address.

In recent seasons, the Birds have drafted top defensive players like Quinyon Mitchell, Nakobe Dean, Cooper DeJean and Nolan Smith, but the team's superstar defensive tackle Jalen Carter is in line for the biggest payday of them all.

The Broncos finalized a deal with All-Pro defensive lineman Zach Allen Saturday with a four-year, $102 million extension, which is the largest value for any player at the position.

However, with Carter's dominance in his short NFL career so far he'll surely be on pace to exceed that money and perhaps be more in line with some of the league's best defensive ends like Maxx Crosby and T.J. Watt.

That could result in Carter being in the range of $110-plus million for his next contract depending on his performance in 2025.

Given how poorly other teams in the NFC East have handled contract negotiations, especially the Dallas Cowboys with Micah Parsons, the Eagles will surely want to lock up Carter's new deal sooner rather than later once the 2026 season draws closer.
