The Philadelphia Eagles have a bunch of unquestioned fantasy football starters.
There's no doubt in Week 1 about starting Jalen Hurts, Saquon Barkley, A.J. Brown or Devonta Smith. All of them can have big games against the Dallas Cowboys on Thursday night to open the NFL season.
But beyond that? It gets a bit tricky.
That's where this breakdown comes in, as we look at the prospect of playing tight end Dallas Goedert in your fantasy lineup for Week 1.
Should I start or sit Dallas Goedert in Week 1 vs. the Cowboys?
Dallas Goedert is a borderline start in 10- and 12-team fantasy football leagues for Week 1 against the Dallas Cowboys.
In The Sporting News' weekly start-sit column put together by Vinnie Iyer, Goedert is his No. 11 TE.
"Goedert can get involved here through the red zone with the Cowboys' back seven issues," Iyer writes.
There's another factor working in Goedert's favor: the Parsons effect.
If the trade of Micah Parsons leaves the Cowboys' defense reeling just a tad, it could create a few extra openings for Philly to exploit.
The Cowboys had middling production against tight ends in 2024. They allowed seven receiving TDs to TEs, which was in the bottom half of the league. They allowed fewer catches to tight ends than any team in the league, but they also had the second-fewest targets to tight ends against them.
Considering it's Week 1, this likely can be a straightforward decision. Is Goedert the first (or only) tight end you drafted? Start him. If you drafted him as a backup, let him stay there for this week.
