Saquon Barkley injury update offers great news for Eagles RB after scare on Monday image

The Philadelphia Eagles dropped their first injury report of the week on Monday ahead of the Week 6 game against the New York Giants on Thursday and it led to a major concern for running back Saquon Barkley.

According to the Eagles' injury report, Barkley was listed with a knee issue and did not practice, although the report was an estimation because Philly did not practice.

Regardless, anytime one of the best players in the league shows up on an injury report, it leads to worries from fans and fantasy football managers alike.

However, it appears Barkley's placement on the list is much ado about nothing.

Saquon Barkley injury update

According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, Barkley is just dealing with some general soreness and is expected to suit up on Thursday night.

"Source on Saquon Barkley: He had general soreness coming out of the game and fully expects to play Thursday night against the Giants," Rapoport reported.

After averaging 22.7 touches per contest over the first four weeks, Barkley saw just nine in Week 5 because the Eagles went pass-heavy. Jalen Hurts threw the football 38 times, which marks the most pass attempts for him in a game this season.

One of the big storylines going into the matchup with the Giants will be Barkley squaring off against his former mates once again.

The last time Barkley faced the Giants, he rushed 17 times for a whopping 176 yards and one touchdown while adding two catches for 11 yards.

New York and Philly will meet at MetLife Stadium on Thursday night, with kickoff set for 8:15 p.m. ET.
