Saquon Barkley delivers truth on Eagles’ mindset moving forward image

Saquon Barkley and the Philadelphia Eagles secured their second-straight win on Sunday night against the Buffalo Bills.

It was a tight game in lousy weather, and the Eagles nearly found themselves on the wrong end of the scoreboard with just seconds left on the clock.

Some fans and players feel good about. Others have their issues with the way the game played out. Ultimately, Barkley believes that it’s all about perspective.

“We know we've got to get better,” Barkley said of the Eagles, specifically the offense. “We have to improve.”

In the first half, the Eagles had one of their better showings on offense. It wasn’t a clinic, but they moved the ball consistently, whether it was on the ground or in the air. All year long, the Eagles have played games with a tale of two halves. Sunday was one of those outings.

The Eagles hardly produced on offense in the second half. They didn’t score, and struggled to produce as many as 20 yards. Barkley ended up finishing the game with just 68 yards on 19 carries. A lot of his carries involved the veteran running back getting met at the line of scrimmage with immediate pressure.

Still, the Eagles did just enough on offense to win the game—as a fantastic defensive showing prevented the Bills from scoring more than 12 points. A win is a win for Philadelphia, but they won’t kid themselves. Improvements need to be made with the playoffs just two weeks away.

“We’re competitors, and we want to improve and get better, but when you have that mindset, you’re like, ‘Dang, it can kind of get scary once we figure it out.’ That’s the goal,” Barkley added. “That’s what we gotta do. We gotta come to work and keep grinding and keep getting better. It’s going to take all of us to do it, and we know that.”

After improving to 11-5 by beating the Bills, the Eagles will get one more game against the Washington Commanders. After that, they are in win-or-go-home mode.
