Should the Philadelphia Eagles be on upset alert against the San Francisco 49ers?
The former NFL star Richard Sherman feels confident heading into Sunday’s action, saying that the Eagles could be one-and-done.
“This ain’t going to be the walk in the park the Philadelphia Eagles thinks it’s going to be, and I think a little bit of the Philadelphia Eagles fans know that,” Sherman said on his podcast.
While confidence is quite high in the City of Brotherly Love heading into the game, the Eagles and their fan base know exactly what the primary concern is, and it’s on the side of the ball that’s headlined by Jalen Hurts.
But you won’t find Sherman criticizing the quarterback in this circumstance. In fact, Sherman has been complimentary of Hurts recently. The former cornerback believes that the architect in Hurts’ ear is the issue.
“Have you seen people drive Ferraris that never drove Ferraris before?” Sherman said.
“Sometimes, this offense looks like a Ferrari shell with a Corolla engine. Corolla engine is the guy calling the plays. I know Kevin Patullo feels so angry that people are coming after him. Kevin Patullo, I’m sorry. I don’t want to do this, but the tape is the tape!”
The Eagles have had a hard time playing a balanced game in 2025. While the defense is certainly championship-level and the anchor of the roster, holding it down weekly, the Eagles’ offense has only had flashes.

The situation isn’t totally different compared to last year. For most of the season, Philly’s former offensive coordinator, Kellen Moore, earned his fair share of criticism. After the Eagles flipped a switch in the postseason, Moore earned his stripes.
Patullo still has a lot to prove. For much of the season, the Eagles’ fan base called for his job. That just might be on the line. There’s little confidence in Patullo from Sherman. The prediction didn’t even contain any “ifs.”
“I feel comfortable with the San Francisco 49ers in this game,” he finished.
Now, it’s up to Patullo to show the NFL world that he can dial up the right plays to generate a championship-level offense.
