After a disappointing 2025 campaign, the Philadelphia Eagles will look to retool and bounce back over the offseason, and that could include making a trade involving a quarterback currently on the team’s roster.
Not that quarterback, though.
Eagles predicted to trade Tanner McKee for draft capital
In a recent article, ESPN’s Benjamin Solak predicts that the Eagles will flip backup QB Tanner Mckee to the Miami Dolphins in exchange for some draft capital prior to the 2026 NFL Draft in Pittsburgh in April.
McKee is entrenched as the backup behind Jalen Hurts in Philadelphia, so trying to get some value out of him and replacing him on the roster next season is certainly something that the Eagles could consider.

From Solak:
"The quarterback factory spits out another trade, as the Eagles will deal QB2 Tanner McKee to the Dolphins in exchange for a middle-round pick. Somehow, this deal eventually gets folded into another team-saving trade just before November's trade deadline."
The Eagles selected Mckee in the sixth round (188th overall) of the 2023 draft to operate as a backup behind Hurts. He’s appeared in six games – and started in two – over the past two seasons for Philadelphia and has tallied career totals of 54 completions, 597 yards and five touchdowns.
McKee is replaceable in Philadelphia. As long as Hurts is healthy, he's going to be the quarterback out on the field for the Eagles next season. But, perhaps a team more in need of help at the QB position, like the Dolphins, could be interested in taking a flyer on the Stanford product and giving the Eagles something in return.
If the Eagles do ultimately trade Mckee, it will be the second straight offseason that the team has traded the backup quarterback. Last March, the Eagles traded Kenny Pickett to the Cleveland Browns in exchange for fifth-round pick in the 2025 NFL draft and quarterback Dorian Thompson-Robinson.
