The Philadelphia Eagles landed a massive injury boost on Wednesday afternoon.

The veteran tackle Lane Johnson officially returned to the practice field in preparation of the Eagles’ Sunday afternoon Wild Card matchup against the San Francisco 49ers.

Back in November, Johnson suffered an injury in his foot, which placed him on a multi-week recovery timeline.

Although there was some early discussion about Johnson’s season potentially being in danger, he was expected to return at some point.

The Eagles wrapped up the 2025 regular season without getting Johnson back on the field. It’s unclear if the Washington Commanders game would’ve been in play if it meant something for the Eagles, but since the team took a resting approach with key players, Johnson didn’t get the nod to play.

The fact that Johnson was suited up and participating in Wednesday’s session is a great sign he’s on pace to make his return.

Hours before the Eagles fired up their afternoon practice session, ESPN’s Adam Schefter discussed the latest on the All-Pro tackle.

"Without speaking to a single person this week about it, I’m going to tell you right now: I would be floored if Lane Johnson didn’t play on Sunday,” Schefter reportedly said on 97.5 The Fanatic on Wednesday. “Like, he’s going to be out there. Let me tell you right now, he’s going to be out there playing."

The Eagles and the 49ers will meet at Lincoln Financial Field for a 4:30 PM ET kickoff on Sunday. Barring any setbacks this week, Johnson seems to be on pace to play.
