The offensive coordinator position for the Philadelphia Eagles has been a rotating door in recent years.

Shane Steichen held the role in 2022, but he became the head coach of the Indianapolis Colts following Philadelphia’s run to the Super Bowl. Steichen was replaced by Ben Johnson, who lasted just a single season before being canned. Kellen Moore replaced Johnson in 2024, but he left to become the head coach of the New Orleans Saints after the Eagles’ win in Super Bowl 59.

This season, Kevin Patullo is serving as Philadelphia’s offensive coordinator, and he’s been underwhelming. Despite their immense talent, the Eagles’ offense has struggled to produce points consistently and has a tendency to go extended periods of time without putting any points on the board.

Kevin Patullo could be coaching for his job in the postseason

Despite the offensive inconsistency, the Eagles clinched a fifth-consecutive playoff appearance this season. But, Patullo’s future in his role remains a topic of conversation among fans – many of whom are calling for change – and apparently among league executives, too.

According to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, people across the league’s landscape are pondering Patullo’s future.

“Some around the league are wondering about the future of Kevin Patullo because of the offense's struggles,” Fowler wrote. “Patullo has clout in Philadelphia because of his strong relationships with key players and a long-standing position as a Nick Sirianni confidant.

“The offensive line's quality of play has certainly not been the same as last year's, which is bad timing for Patullo. The offense ranks 24th in yards per game, which is tough considering the overall talent of the group."

Obviously, if Philadelphia’s offense finds another gear in the postseason, the conversations around Patullo could shift. But, if the unit sputters, calls for a change are only going to become louder.

The Eagles showed that they aren’t afraid to move on from an offensive coordinator after a single season, as they did exactly that with Brian Johnson. But, Patullo’s close relationship with head coach Nick Sirianni could be a factor.

Ultimately, Patullo’s future in Philadelphia could hinge on how the team – and more specifically the offense – performs during postseason play.
