The Philadelphia Eagles couldn’t get anything going on offense in the second half of the matchup against the Buffalo Bills on Sunday.
As their defense held the Bills to zero points for the majority of the game, the offense didn’t hold up its end of the bargain, which has become a frustrating trend for Philadelphia throughout the 2025 NFL season.
Considering the offensive coordinator, Kevin Patullo, is the primary play-caller, he has to face the questions and the criticism when the offense is struggling. On Tuesday, the coordinator faced a room full of reporters with an explanation.
Kevin Patullo Comments on the Eagles’ Struggles
"When you look at those drives, it gets frustrating because we need one play,” the coordinator told reporters.
“All we need is one play, one spark to get things going and we're out of it. There was one drive we were very close.. It's not one person, one thing, one call. We gotta look at everything."
Although the head coach Nick Sirianni denied that the Eagles took a conservative approach in the second half, as they led by two possessions, it seemed the Eagles were focused on keeping the ball on the ground. The star running back, Saquon Barkley, was often met in the backfield or at the line of scrimmage on his late carries.
The Eagles didn’t throw much, and when they did, nothing could be completed. Throughout the final two quarters, Jalen Hurts didn’t have a completion, and the offense was under 20 yards.
“We know we've got to get better,” Barkley said of the Eagles’ offense. “We have to improve.”

“We’re competitors, and we want to improve and get better, but when you have that mindset, you’re like, ‘Dang, it can kind of get scary once we figure it out.’ That’s the goal. That’s what we gotta do. We gotta come to work and keep grinding and keep getting better. It’s going to take all of us to do it, and we know that.”
Fortunately, the Eagles made it out of Buffalo with a one-point win. They know they have a championship-level defense. Soon, they’ll find out if they can figure out what needs to be done to get the offense on the same page.
