Jalen Hurts might not have a lot to prove during the upcoming NFL playoff run—but he’ll surely want to prove his doubters wrong once again.
The Philadelphia Eagles have seen their quarterback come alive on the biggest stages of his pro career time and time again. After a disappointing 2025 NFL regular season, Hurts isn’t getting a major vote of confidence from a good portion of football fans heading into the Wild Card Round.
One former NFL player might’ve been on that side of the argument for a bit, but as the San Francisco 49ers gear up to travel to South Philly for Sunday’s outing, Hurts has another believer.
Hugh Douglas Dishes on Jalen Hurts’ Upcoming Run
“We did a lot of talking the last couple of days about playoff pedigree and championship pedigree and stuff like that,” Douglas explained on 94 WIP. “As we move closer to this weekend, I expect Jalen to do that because that’s been who Jalen has been his whole career. I expect him to do whatever it takes to win football games.”

Plenty of arguments can be made against Hurts’ standing as one of the top quarterbacks in the league from an individual perspective, but when it comes to winning, the former second-rounder has excelled in that category.
Since 2021, Hurts has appeared in nine postseason games. Two of those matchups were NFC Championship games. He played on the Super Bowl stage twice, splitting a series of games with the Kansas City Chiefs.
Last year, Hurts threw for more yards than any other quarterback in the playoffs (726 yards). He had a league-high five passing touchdowns and five rushing touchdowns. When the 2024 NFL season was all said and done, Hurts was crowned the Super Bowl MVP.
Sunday marks the start of a new playoff run. Past experience helps, but it doesn’t alter results. Hurts still has to go out and show out, but he’s certainly gaining more confidence from some of his biggest critics as the matchup against the 49ers inches closer.
