Philadelphia Eagles defensive lineman Jalen Carter did one of the dumber things you will ever see on a football field in the Week 1 game against the Dallas Cowboys and he made NFL history as a result.
Carter was ejected following the opening kickoff when he spat on Cowboys signal-caller Dak Prescott, which was clearly caught on camera. Carter was flagged for unsportsmanlike conduct and was immediately ejected.
According to the NBC broadcast of the Eagles versus Cowboys game, Carter is the first player on a defending Super Bowl-winning team to get ejected in a season-opener in league history.
The loss of Carter has been quite apparent for the Eagles, as Philly's defense hasn't gotten the same push we're used to. It's hard to replace a player like Carter, who is a major difference-maker because of his ability to draw double teams upfront.
The Georgia product has developed into one of the better interior defenders in the NFL over two years. He finished as the runner-up for the Defensive Rookie of the Year in 2023 and was a Pro Bowler and second-team All-Pro in 2024.
Now, it'll be interesting to see if Carter will get a suspension. We do know for sure that he's going to receive a fine from the league.
