Philadelphia Eagles defensive lineman Jalen Carter has been ejected from the Week 1 game against the Dallas Cowboys.
Following the opening kickoff, officials announced that Carter was thrown out of the game for an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty.
That is obviously a massive blow for the Eagles' defense, as Carter is a dominant player on the inside who commands double teams and open things up for the rest of Philly's defense.
That should help the Cowboys' rushing attack throughout the rest of the game.
Why was Jalen Carter ejected?
It appears that Carter spit at Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott before the first offensive play of the game, according to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero.

That is the definition of a dumb move by Carter. It accomplished nothing other than hurting his team and helping the Cowboys.
Carter was drafted with the No. 9 overall pick in the 2023 NFL draft. Since then, he has become one of the better interior defenders in the NFL.
Philly's depth chart lists Gabe Hall, Ty Robinson and Byron Young as the backups on the inside, so they should get more run the rest of the way.
