TL;DR
- A.J. Brown dismissed speculation about his declining skill, pointing to Saquon Barkley's similar production drop.
- Brown deflected questions about Eagles frustration with Jalen Hurts, suggesting to ask about Dallas instead.
- Both Brown and Barkley have seen reduced yardage this season compared to last year's first 10 games.
- The Philadelphia Eagles maintain an 8-2 record despite offensive discussions, with potential for increased scrutiny if losses occur.
If the Philadelphia Eagles were hopeful that the team would stay silent in hopes of simmering some of the brewing tensions, receiver A.J. Brown dashed those hopes.
While talking with the media on Thursday, Brown was asked how he'd respond to the speculation that his drop in production was a product of declining skill. Brown noted that if it is the case, it's also happening with other Eagles, namely Saquon Barkley.
"I guess Saquon ain't the same player either, then," Brown said, in a video shared by Tim McManus, ESPN on X.
When asked about rumors suggesting the Eagles, or certain players, are growing increasingly frustrated regarding quarterback Jalen Hurts, Brown dismissed the inquiry but stopped short of a clear refutation.
"Ask me about Dallas," he replied in a video shared on X by PHLY Sports' EJ Smith.
Last season, Brown recorded 33 catches for 618 yards and three touchdowns in Philadelphia's initial 10 contests. This year, through his team's first 10 games, Brown has secured 38 receptions for three touchdowns, but accumulated just 457 yards. It's also important to mention that Brown sat out three of the first 10 games in 2024, whereas he's only been absent for one game in 2025.
Barkley's situation mirrors this. Last season, after 10 games, Barkley had accumulated 1,137 rushing yards at 5.8 yards per attempt and scored eight touchdowns. Additionally, he made 23 catches for 210 yards and two touchdowns. While his receiving statistics in 2025 are comparable (28 receptions for 207 yards with two touchdowns), his rushing yardage has notably decreased. Barkley has only managed 662 rushing yards with four touchdowns this year, averaging just 3.8 yards per carry.
The Eagles boast an 8-2 record, mirroring their standing at this juncture in 2024. Despite considerable discussion regarding the team's offensive difficulties, this commentary is expected to intensify should the team start experiencing defeats.
