Eagles wanted new QB so much that GM Howie Roseman made a key move himself image

The Philadelphia Eagles have been busy at the quarterback position this offseason.

They went from Kenny Pickett as last year's backup to adding Dorian Thompson-Robinson and Kyle McCord behind Jalen Hurts.

The McCord addition is the one that Philly clearly wanted in a big way.

That's clear based on what ESPN's Jeremy Fowler reported on Wednesday:

"With quarterback Kyle McCord in the sixth round, the Eagles had enough interest that Roseman called Syracuse offensive coordinator Jeff Nixon personally to get the predraft lowdown on the prospect."

McCord began his college career at Ohio State, then played his final season with SU in 2024.

McCord had an incredible final college campaign with the Orange.

He completed 66 percent of his passes for 4,779 yards and 34 touchdowns.

McCord did throw 12 interceptions, but overall, he was a star in the ACC to close out his college career.

The Eagles wanted that experience and arm talent in their building. Many mock drafts predicted McCord to go closer to the fourth round than the sixth.

Philadelphia's backup job won't be decided without a bit of preseason competition.

But given Roseman's pursuit of intel on McCord, it seems like the rookie QB may stick around for the long run.
