On Tuesday, the Philadelphia Eagles made it clear they would be firing up a search for a new offensive coordinator to work with Jalen Hurts.
Ex-NFL linebacker Emmanuel Acho suggested the Eagles should consider the former Los Angeles Chargers offensive coordinator, Greg Roman.
On Wednesday morning, Acho took to social media to explain his thinking.
Via @EmmanuelAcho: Greg Roman to the Philadelphia Eagles solves several problems and fits the roster:
1: He’s not leaving to be a head coach
2: He gets the most out of mobile QB’s (Lamar: Unanimous MVP, Kaepernick: Super Bowl)
3: Maximizes best players — Saquon Barkley
Since 2011, Roman has held an NFL offensive coordinator job. He started with the San Francisco 49ers
After runs with the ’Niners, Buffalo Bills, and the Baltimore Ravens, Roman landed with the LA Chargers in 2024. He joined the team to work with the star passer, Justin Herbert.
While Roman’s resume is impressive, his most recent work is where he should be judged the most. During the 2024 season, Justin Herbert threw for 3,870 yards, 23 touchdowns, and just three interceptions. He posted his highest passer rating (101.7) since entering the NFL in 2020.
His yards saw a slight dip in 2025 to 3,727, but his touchdowns increased to 26. When it came to turnovers, Herbert had his second-worst season, tossing 13 interceptions.

Similar to the Eagles, the Chargers had a rough offensive showing in the Wild Card Round of the playoffs. They posted just three points against the New England Patriots. The defeat helped contribute to Roman’s firing.
So far, the Eagles don’t have any official links to a Kevin Patullo replacement. As the NFL world waits for their decision, analysts are tossing out their favorite candidates for the job. Acho believes that Roman could be the guy for the Eagles.
