The Philadelphia Eagles have a big decision to make regarding their star pass rusher, Jaelan Phillips.

The veteran defensive end hasn’t been with the organization for a long time, but he could be a candidate to earn a long-term deal in Philly.

However, Phillips won’t sugarcoat his approach to NFL free agency. During his final moments at the Eagles’ practice facility on Monday, Phillips addressed reporters, who inquired about his mindset heading into a critical offseason.

According to NBC Sports Philadelphia’s Dave Zangaro, Phillips made it clear that he isn’t sure what will happen. He is open to returning, but ultimately, he’s going to let his agent handle the process. For what it’s worth, he enjoyed his short stint.

Phillips, a 2021 first-round pick for the Miami Dolphins, was traded to the Eagles back in November. He was Howie Roseman’s star pickup before the trade deadline capped all deals.

When he joined the Eagles, he had 46 games under his belt. Phillips produced 152 tackles and 23.0 sacks during his four-year run with the Dolphins.

In eight games with the Eagles, Phillips registered 28 tackles. Four of his tackles were for a loss. He also got seven hits on the quarterback, along with 2.0 sacks.

The spark he gave the Eagles should lead to a competitive market in the spring. While the Eagles showed enough interest to part ways with a day-two pick to acquire him, there is a strong chance they are willing to make a bid to see his return. However, discounts are unlikely in this situation.
