The Philadelphia Eagles signed a player Thursday with the same name as a Cleveland Guardians baseball star.
The NFL Jose Ramirez and the MLB Jose Ramirez are not the same person, though.
The Eagles have signed the football-playing Ramirez to a reserve/futures contract, which means he joins Philly for the offseason.

The baseball-playing Ramirez is still happily the starting third baseman and best player for the Guardians.
The NFL's Ramirez was a sixth-round pick in the 2023 NFL Draft by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He spent time in college at Arizona, Riverside Community College and Eastern Michigan.
This Ramirez is a 6-foot-2, 252-pound outside linebacker.
He has played in just four NFL games and not recorded a single statistic. All four games came for the Bucs in 2024.
This signing with the Eagles will be Ramirez's first time outside of the Buccaneers' organization.

He's a little bigger than the baseball Ramirez, who is listed at 5-foot-8 and 190 pounds. The baseball Ramirez is a seven-time All Star, too.
But there's still time for the football Ramirez to try and make his own mark and claim at least some of the shine of his name for himself.
