Even at the bottom end of NFL rosters, there are guys who were once can't-miss players.
The Philadelphia Eagles just signed one of those players on Thursday.
The Eagles have signed KJ Henry, according to NFL transactions reporter Aaron Wilson. Henry will join the Eagles' practice squad.
Henry is a defensive end who went to Clemson as a five-star recruit. The 6-foot-4, 255-pound pass rusher was eventually a fifth-round pick of the Washington Commanders in 2023. Henry has spent time under contract with the Commanders, Bengals, Cowboys and Browns, and he also had practice squad time already with the Eagles in 2024.

The Eagles also signed Jacob Sykes to their practice squad.
Sykes is another defensive end. He went to Harvard and then UCLA and went undrafted in 2023. He has spent time under contract with the Seahawks and with the UFL's San Antonio Brahamas.
To make room on the practice squad, the Eagles had to release two players.
According to Wilson, the cuts are Eli Ricks and Antwaun Powell-Ryland. Ricks is a cornerback who played at LSU and Alabama. Powell-Ryland is a linebacker who played at Florida and Virginia Tech.

Powell-Ryland is a more disappointing cut, because he was a sixth-round draft pick just this year, but that's how things work sometimes on the fringes of an NFL roster.
The Eagles continue to do what they can to defend their Super Bowl title. In Week 5, they'll be home Sunday against the Denver Broncos.
