The Philadelphia Eagles' defense had a somewhat slow start to their second preseason game of the summer, as the Cleveland Browns took a 6-0 lead after a long opening drive. The Eagles failed to answer on offense, but one of their promising rookies made a huge splash play.
Rookie defensive back Andrew Mukuba jumped a pass by Dillon Gabriel, picking it off and returning it for a touchdown. Later on in the second quarter, Mukuba jumped on a fumble and recovered it. Mukuba led the SEC with five interceptions in 2024 with the Longhorns.
In an offseason where the Eagles have been looking for a young player to step up to earn more snaps in the secondary, Mukuba has certainly shown he is worthy of a spot in the rotation come Week 1.
