Eagles have a problem that only Jalen Hurts can solve image

Jalen Hurts hasn't had to be Superman much before this season.

Don't mistake that for us saying the Philadelphia Eagles' QB hasn't been a good player, because he has been, even great at times.

But before this season, the Eagles' offense supported him. The offensive line was great. Saquon Barkley joined last year to be a superstar. The wide receivers have been awesome. Dallas Goedert has been reliable.

This season, much of the offensive unit has broken down.

The Eagles, more than ever, will go as Hurts goes, because they've left themselves no other choice.

"It's probably too late to hope that everything that has hampered the offense will be figured out this season, so it's going to be up to Hurts to play well enough to make up for all the other ills," wrote NFL.com's Judy Battista on Thursday. "If he does, the Eagles will be able to hold off the charging Cowboys. If he doesn't, the Eagles are going to hear more and more comparisons to their 2023 collapse and crash out of the playoffs."

The Eagles have won plenty this season in spite of their offense taking a step back in basically every way imaginable.

Barkley is getting hit behind the line of scrimmage often. A.J. Brown is pouting. Even the tush push has failed a few times.

It's never easy to defend a Super Bowl title. Often in the championship year, things go better than you'd expect. There was always going to be some kind of course correction.

So that leaves it up to Hurts to carry the Eagles back where they want to go. As the stretch run arrives, the rest of the NFL will see just how capable Hurts really is.
