General manager Howie Roseman and the Philadelphia Eagles have managed their offseason without making a splash move for an outside free agent.

That could change with All-Pro cornerback Jaire Alexander suddenly available after being cut loose by the Green Bay Packers.

When healthy, Alexander is one of the NFL’s stickiest cover corners. Per CBS Sports analyst Cody Benjamin, the chance to add the 28-year-old superstar to a secondary that already includes Quinyon Mitchell and Cooper DeJean could be too tempting for Roseman and company to pass up.

“The Philadelphia Eagles are due for a splash,” Benjamin wrote, “and Alexander, who just happened to be born in Philly, would give them a higher-upside rental for their title-winning secondary.”

The Eagles have bigger needs on a roster that will look a lot different than last year’s Super Bowl champion. They could use an EDGE rusher after moving on from Josh Sweat (free agency), Brandon Graham (retirement) and Bryce Huff (trade) this offseason. Depth at safety, running back, wide receiver and tight end could be tested in 2025 with the attrition of an NFL regular season.

Alexander’s high-end talent can’t be ignored, however, and the Eagles have ample salary cap space — $32.5 million, seventh most in football, per Over the Cap — to work out a one-year contract. Alexander would join an excellent situation on the boundary opposite Mitchell, with DeJean resuming his dominant role at nickel corner.

Philly’s potential interest will likely come down to two main factors — healthy and contract. If Alexander can fetch a multi-year deal, he’s more likely land elsewhere. Otherwise, Benjamin’s proposed deal of one year, $16 million would make a lot of sense for both sides, as Alexander would be joining a Super Bowl contender who could help propel him to his next lucrative contract in 2026 free agency.
