Eagles' most valuable offseason trade chip revealed by Bleacher Report image

The NFL trade deadline has already passed, but it’s never too early to look to the future. Bleacher Report recently listed the most valuable offseason trade chip for every team in the league, and for the Philadelphia Eagles that player is reserve running back Tank Bigsby.

Tank Bigsby listed as Philadelphia's most valuable offseason trade chip

The Eagles acquired Bigsby in a trade with the Jacksonville Jaguars early in the season to bolster the backfield behind Saquon Barkley. He’s been used sparingly throughout the season, but he tallied 104 yards on nine carries against the New York Giants in Week 8.

There likely won’t be a big role for Bigsby in Philadelphia as long as Barkley is in an Eagles uniform, but he could be of interest to other running back-needy teams. As such, he could indeed prove to be a valuable trade chip for Philly.

From Bleacher Report:

A preseason addition via trade from the Jaguars, Bigsby scored eight touchdowns in 2024 and went over 100 yards in place of an injured Saquon Barkley in Week 8. He's still just 24 and remains under team control for 2026, but there might not be enough room for him with 2024 fourth-round pick Will Shipley also in the mix.”

It remains to be seen what kind of value the Eagles could possibly get for Bigsby in a trade, but it’s certainly something that they could consider after the season, especially if he continues to play such a minor role in the offense. In nine games with the Eagles, Bigsby has tallied just 17 attempts for 156 yards.

At the time that he was traded to Philadelphia, Bigsby expressed excitement about the new opportunity.

"I was like, 'OK, let's go,'" Bigsby said about his reaction to getting traded. "Just go get an opportunity to go do something great. So I was happy about it. Thanked the Lord about it, I can't sit there and complain. It's the next opportunity. I'm with the Eagles now, let's go."

Bigsby is still just 24 years old, so he should have plenty of productive football in front of him. It will be interesting to see what the future holds for the Auburn product.
