It’s rare for a fourth-round rookie to immediately step into a prominent role for an NFL team, especially on a roster loaded with established stars and young talent like the Philadelphia Eagles have.
But there’s no denying the hype around Philly’s first selection on Day 3 of April’s NFL Draft.
Eagles veterans like Jalen Carter and Jordan Davis have raved about rookie Ty Robinson, who was recently named one of the NFC East’s most underrated moves of the 2025 offseason.
Per Tim McManus of ESPN: “The Eagles need some interior players to step up after losing Milton Williams to the New England Patriots in free agency. Robinson, who finished with seven sacks, 13 tackles for loss and four passes defensed for the Cornhuskers last season, could very well factor into the rotation if he continues to impress this summer.”
Philly’s starting defensive line entering training camp is pretty much set in stone, with third-year pro Moro Ojomo expected to join Carter and Davis up front. Defensive coordinator Vic Fangio loves to rotate his linemen and EDGE rushers, though, so there should be a ton of snaps up for grabs for guys like Robinson, Thomas Booker IV and possibly even Byron Young, who the Eagles claimed off waivers last season and ended up stashing on injured reserve without ever playing a snap.
Robinson could have the cleanest path to immediate playing time of any Eagles rookie outside of Jihaad Campbell. We’ll get a better sense of his readiness when training camp kicks off next month, but the reports from Philly’s own players is that his motor is relentless and he’s picking up Fangio’s defense seamlessly.
“I think he’s going to have a big impact this season,” Carter said.
“It’s like he’s been here for years,” Davis added.
Eagles GM Howie Roseman traded out of the third round completely this year, adding to has been a multi-year haul of Day 3 capital. He’s had his share of misses in Round 4 and beyond, but Robinson sounds like he could be one of the top mid-round steals of the 2025 draft class.
