Eagles made major change in Week 15 they had never done before under Nick Sirianni image

The Philadelphia Eagles committed to an approach they had never done this much before.

It helped them blow out the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday in a Week 15 win they were expected to get but also that they needed to have.

The alteration: The amount of time the Eagles spent under center.

The Athletic's Brooks Kubena shared this on X:

"The Eagles' 30 under-center plays against the Raiders were their most in any regular season or playoff game under Nick Sirianni, per TruMedia."

That's a really cool change of trend.

The implication, of course, is that the Eagles like operating out of the shotgun with Jalen Hurts.

That's fair, and for a while, it worked great.

This season, though, it just hasn't been the best setup.

The Eagles don't run Hurts on designed plays out of the shotgun, so any handoffs out of that formation aren't actually operating with a separate threat.

Under center, though, the Eagles have proven to have an intriguingly effective play-action passing game.

The more they handoff from under center, the more the play-action can work.

The Eagles committed to it, and they had a great Sunday.
