The Philadelphia Eagles will go on the hunt for a new offensive coordinator to work alongside the head coach, Nick Sirianni, coaching the star quarterback, Jalen Hurts.
On Tuesday, the Eagles confirmed the inevitable: Kevin Patullo will not return as the team’s head play caller. While reports have suggested that Patullo could be back in a different role, his days at OC are finished in Philadelphia.
Who Are the Eagles Targeting?
According to NFL insider Josina Anderson, the Eagles have two intriguing targets in mind.
One of them is the former Washington Commanders offensive coordinator Kliff Kingsbury. The other is the former Cleveland Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski.
It’s not a two-man battle for the job, but they are two early names revealed in a critical head coaching search.
Via @JosinaAnderson: A league source said Kliff Kingsbury (a runner up when the team hired Kellen Moore) & Kevin Stefanski will "get a real look" for the #Eagles offensive coordinator position--among other options--assuming head coach signings don't supersede the team's vacancy.
Kliff Kingsbury is a former quarterback, who has experience as a coach at the NCAA and NFL levels. He was an offensive coordinator at Texas A&M, before becoming Texas Tech’s head coach.
In 2019, Kingsbury was hired as the head coach of the Arizona Cardinals. After parting ways with the Cardinals in 2022, he returned to the NCAA for an offensive analyst job at USC, before taking on the Cardinals’ OC job.
Kingsbury landed head coaching interest from several teams, including the Baltimore Ravens, who interviewed him recently.
Kevin Stefanski is a Philly-born coach with a versatile coaching background. He’s held multiple position coaching jobs before landing the Minnesota Vikings’ full-time offensive coordinator job in 2019. Since 2020, Stefanski was the head coach of the Browns.
In Cleveland, Stefanski’s Browns posted a 45-56 record. They made the playoffs twice, losing in the Divisional Round once, and the Wild Card Round the other time. After winning just eight games over the past two seasons, Stefanski and the Browns parted ways,
Aside from the Eagles’ reported interest, Stefanski has received considerable interest from several teams early on.
