The Philadelphia Eagles are likely to face off against a familiar face at quarterback when they host the Las Vegas Raiders in Week 15.
According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, Raiders quarterback Geno Stone is unlikely to start for the team on Sunday due to a shoulder injury. If he can’t go, former Eagles backup quarterback Kenny Pickett will be in line to start for Las Vegas.
Kenny Pickett likely to start for Raiders in Week 15
Pickett served as the backup to Jalen Hurts in Philadelphia last season, and he has a Super Bowl ring as a result. Pickett was even able to take some snaps in the Big Game since Philadelphia was so far ahead of Kansas City in the closing minutes of the contest.
The Eagles traded Pickett to the Cleveland Browns in March for a fifth-round pick and Dorian Thompson-Robinson. The Browns then subsequently traded Pickett to the Raiders for a fifth-rounder in the 2026 NFL Draft.
Pickett has appeared in three games for the Raiders this season and completed 10 of his 14 pass attempts for 105 yards and a touchdown. If Pickett does start against Philadelphia, it will be his first start of the season.
Usually, when a backup quarterback is forced to play, it's good news for the opposing team. However, that might not be the situation in this case. Stone has played poorly throughout the season, to the point that Pickett might actually be an upgrade for Las Vegas. Smith leads the league with 14 interceptions, compared to just 16 touchdown tosses.
Regardless of who starts at QB for Las Vegas, the Eagles will be desperate for a win after dropping three straight games. They still hold pole position in the NFC East, but the Dallas Cowboys have narrowed the gap and put some pressure on the Eagles. A win over the lowly Raiders could serve as a major morale boost in Philadelphia's locker room and provide the Birds with some extra breathing room in the division.
