It took longer than expected, but the reigning Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles can finally boast a current player on the NFL’s Top 100 Players of 2025 poll.
Even more surprising was the Eagles player who landed barely inside the top 70.
DeVonta Smith? Landon Dickerson? Copper DeJean? Quinyon Mitchell? Philly has several young stars who would make sense at No. 69 overall.
Franchise left tackle Jordan Mailata should have debuted much higher, however.
“Even though he played in just 12 regular-season games, Mailata did his job by protecting Jalen Hurts and creating gaps for Saquon Barkley,” wrote Christian Gonzales of NFL.com. “He earned his first Super Bowl ring and now makes the Top 100 countdown for the first time in his career.”
This poll is voted on by a survey of current players, so we can now officially conclude that Mailata is one of the NFL’s most underrated.
He allowed just one sack and 14 total pressures in 406 total pass blocking snaps during the regular season, and was equally as dominant in the playoffs — including a clean sheet in Philly’s wild-card round win over the Packers, per PFF. The former rugby star has enjoyed a quick ascension to the NFL’s elite left tackles, scoring himself a $66 million extension in 2024. He finished last season as PFF’s top-graded tackle in the NFL, including his counterparts on the right side.
Mailata wasn’t even on this list last year, so he did make a sizable jump. Ranking him No. 69 is laughably low, however. For context, analyst Pete Prisco ranked him No. 13 overall in his annual top 100 list for CBS Sports.
Philly should have seven players land on this year’s list when all’s said and done. It’s probably too late for guys like Smith, Dickerson, DeJean and Mitchell to be recognized, but the Eagles have several “locks” in Jalen Carter, Zack Baun, Lane Johnson, Jalen Hurts, A.J. Brown and Saquon Barkley.
