Saturday’s game between the Philadelphia Eagles and the Washington Commanders included a fourth-quarter altercation, which took a few minutes to break up.
Three players involved were ejected from the game. On Washington’s side, they lost Quan Martin and Javon Kinlaw. As for the Eagles, they had to roll without Tyler Steen for the remainder of the game.
Fortunately, all three players aren’t expected to be suspended for their involvement in the scrum. According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the biggest punishment will be a fine.

The players’ actions will be reviewed for discipline in the form of fines.
Keeping Steen in the mix for next week’s game against the Buffalo Bills is a major plus for Philadelphia. While the offensive line has had its fair share of struggles this year, the unit hasn’t been healthy.
Fortunately, the Eagles aren’t expected to lose Steen, and they are preparing for a major boost as Lane Johnson is expected to make his return after missing several weeks with a foot injury.
The Eagles Dodged a Bullet
At this point, the Commanders don’t have much to lose. Even before facing the Eagles on Saturday, many would’ve considered the 2025 NFL season to be a lost one for Washington.
Dealing with key injuries all year long, including missing the young star quarterback Jayden Daniels for an extended period, the Commanders have been one of the most disappointing teams in the NFL this season. They are eliminated from playoff contention.
As for the Eagles, they won the NFC East by defeating Washington on Saturday. The fourth-quarter brawl tested the future availability of some key players, such as Saquon Barkley.
Although Barkley ran off the field initially, he returned to the scrum as tempers were flaring. After the game, the veteran running back admitted his mistake.
“Bobby Wagner did a really good job of making it make sense to me in that moment,” Barkley said after the game.
“You get to throw two or three punches at a helmet, hopefully you don’t break your hand, just to say you’re a tough guy. It’s not really worth it, and you lose a lot of money. We’ve got to be better there.”
The Eagles won’t face any suspensions. As for fines, there is a chance Steen could get one in the mail. While Barkley’s involvement was minimal, he could be under review as well.
The 10-5 Eagles will continue their season next Sunday against the 11-4 Bills on the road.
