Eagles GM responds to question about potential A.J. Brown trade image

Philadelphia Eagles general manager Howie Roseman spoke to media members for the first time since the Eagles were defeated by the San Francisco 49ers in the Wild Card Round of the playoffs.

Given the events of the season, you knew there was going to be at least one question regarding star wide receiver A.J. Brown’s future with the franchise, and indeed there was.

Howie Roseman doesn't completely rule out an A.J. Brown trade

When asked if the team would consider trading Brown over the offseason, Roseman provided an answer that made it sound like the team doesn’t want to trade the mercurial pass-catcher, without completely shutting down the possibility.

“We talked about this, I think at the trade deadline, last time I talked,” Roseman said. “It’s hard to find great players in the NFL and A.J.’s a great player. I think from my perspective that’s what we’re going out and looking for, when we go out in free agency and the Draft, is trying to find great players who love football and he’s that guy. So that would be my answer.”

Brown has eclipsed the 1,000-yard receiving mark in each of his four seasons with the Eagles, and he’s been an integral part of Philadelphia’s success over the past four seasons. However, his consistent complaining throughout the 2025 campaign overshadowed his on-field performance, leading some to suggest that the Eagles should try to move on.

It remains to be seen if they actually will, but it's certainly a decision the team will have to make over the offseason. Trading Brown would be feasible financially, and doing so could land the Eagles some attractive assets in the draft.

But, Brown is still one of the best receivers in the entire NFL, and he's still just 28 years old. Trading a player of that ilk is a very difficult decision to make, and one that the Eagles might opt not to make.
