The Miami Dolphins considered snatching up a member of the Philadelphia Eagles’ front office.

Howie Roseman’s assistant, Alec Halaby, was considered a candidate for the Dolphins’ vacant general manager position. Earlier this week, it was revealed that Halaby was one of six executives to get an in-person interview with the Dolphins.

According to The Athletic’s Zach Berman, Halaby is not one of the four candidates getting a second interview.

Good News for the Eagles

The Eagles’ front office is run by Howie Roseman, but they have plenty of continuity with Halaby running with him. The executive has been with the organization since 2007. He became Roseman’s assistant GM in 2022.

Earning promotional interviews isn’t anything new for Halaby. In the past, he was tied to searches for the Carolina Panthers, Washington Commanders, and the New York Jets. The Dolphins were the first and only team to consider him so far.

While Miami’s search could go in a different direction, it seems that Halaby is no longer in their plans. The official team site revealed the names of four candidates who will interview this week.

Chad Alexander (Los Angeles Chargers assistant GM), Champ Kelly (current Dolphins interim GM), Jon-Eric Sullivan (Green Bay Packers VP of Player Personnel), and Josh Williams (San Francisco 49ers Director of Scouting) are all going to be considered.

As the Eagles prepare for round one in the NFL Playoffs, there aren’t too many distractions on the interview front. All of the focus is on facing the 49ers at home. The Eagles and the 49ers are slated for a 4:30 PM ET kickoff this Sunday.
