Eagles could ship $33.8 million EDGE to Bills after Joey Bosa injury news image

The Buffalo Bills took a flier on the oft-injured Joey Bosa this offseason, signing the former Los Angeles Chargers superstar EDGE to an almost fully guaranteed, $12.6 million contract for the 2025 season.

They could soon be seeking a backup plan, as head coach Sean McDermott revealed Tuesday that Bosa has a calf injury that will likely shut him down until training camp.

The injury is reportedly a pulled muscle. While it doesn’t appear to be overly serious, the team will likely be extra cautious with their new 29-year-old pass rusher, as calf injuries or tightness can lead to future issues with the Achilles tendon.

With Bosa expected to be on the shelf for the next couple of months, now would be a perfect time for the Philadelphia Eagles to gauge Buffalo's interest in acquiring 27-year-old EDGE Bryce Huff.

While Huff had a brutal 2024 season with the Eagles, he’s just two years removed from amassing 67 pressures and 10 sacks in a contract year with the New York Jets. Huff will be extra motivated in 2025 after landing on Philly’s list of inactives for Super Bowl LIX as a healthy scratch. He’s in need of a fresh start, and the Eagles would love to clear the $33.8 million in cash he’s owed over the next two seasons.

The Bills cut ties with veteran Von Miller and replaced him with Bosa this offseason. While the team has some established EDGE rushers in Greg Rousseau and AJ Epenesa on the roster, the injury volatility surrounding Bosa should be a major concern. He hasn’t played a full slate of games since 2019, and he hasn’t cleared more than 500 snaps in a regular season since 2021.

Buffalo could be turning to third-round rookie Landon Jackson sooner than expected if Bosa’s most recent injury lingers into the summer. Assuming the Eagles would eat a majority of the guaranteed money (about $16 million total) remaining on his contract, a future Day 3 draft pick for Huff would make a ton of sense for both sides.
