Eagles’ Bryce Huff offers 1-word response to reported trade to 49ers image

An offseason trade always felt like a best-case scenario for Bryce Huff and the Philadelphia Eagles. Coming off an awful 2024 season, the main hurdle was Huff’s massive, $51 million contract that carries through 2026.

Both sides have reportedly agreed to a restructured deal that will ultimately facilitate a trade to the San Francisco 49ers, reuniting Huff with his former coach in Robert Saleh.

With the dust barely settled on the report, broke by NFL insider Adam Schefter on Friday afternoon, Huff wasted no time responding to the news.

While he opted against using words, Huff posted a selfie on his Instagram story giving the universal “peace” sign. He was noticeably wearing an Eagles undershirt in the photo.

Huff’s one-word message comes off a little hollow. He was the highest-paid player on Philly’s defense in 2024 and struggled his way to just a pair of sacks and 23 total pressures. The brutal season was exacerbated by a midseason wrist injury suffered during pregame warmups, which led to missed time. He was ultimately passed on the depth chart by rookie Jalyx Hunt and benched in Super Bowl LIX in favor of Brandon Graham, who was essentially playing with one arm.

Huff, an undrafted player, had the best season of his career in 2023 under Saleh, the former head coach of the New York Jets who famously compared Huff to legendary Yankees closer Mariano Rivera for his pass rush prowess. Huff notched 10 sacks that season and was rewarded by Eagles GM Howie Roseman with a whopping three-year deal worth over $17 million in average annual value in 2024 free agency.

Maybe Huff will pen a more candid goodbye to Eagles fans in the coming days. He did earn a Super Bowl ring with Philly, and the few times we heard from him post-game via the local media, he acknowledged his struggles and vowed to do everything possible to fix it.

For now, the passive-aggressive selfie will have to suffice for a player whose Eagles tenure only went from bad to worse.
