The Philadelphia Eagles have already punched their ticket to the NFL Playoffs.
The only question that remains is who they will play in the first round. On Monday night, the Eagles found out that the Seattle Seahawks were out of the question early on. With the Los Angeles Rams losing to the Atlanta Falcons, it leaves the Eagles down to three potential opponents.
A Look at the Possibilities for the Eagles
1. San Francisco 49ers
Trailing the Seahawks in the tough NFC West is the 49ers, who hold a 12-4 record. After a victory on Sunday night, the 49ers have won six games in a row. They are heading into the playoffs hot.
The Eagles and the 49ers haven’t played each other since 2023. Their last meeting was a lopsided revenge game for the 49ers. San Francisco destroyed the Eagles in South Philly with a 42-19 win. That was payback for the Eagles-49ers NFC Championship battle less than one year prior. The Eagles defeated the 49ers 31-7 to advance to the Super Bowl.
2. Green Bay Packers
The Packers haven’t picked up a 10th win yet. With a 9-6 record, they’ve been sliding down the NFC by losing three games in a row. Struggles with health, especially at the quarterback position, will do that.
The Eagles and the Packers met back on November 10. It was another low-scoring affair for Philadelphia, who landed a masterful performance from its defense. The Eagles won 10-7 on the road, making it four in a row over the Packers.
Last season, the Eagles and the Packers met twice, with one of those games being a postseason battle. The regular season opener featured a 34-29 win for the Eagles. The rematch in the playoffs resulted in a 22-10 victory for Philadelphia. History bodes well for the Eagles in this case.
3. Los Angeles Rams
The Rams dropped the ball on Monday night. Just one week ago, there was discussion about a potential one-seed getting locked for LA. Now, they are looking at a potential road game in South Philly once again.
The Eagles and the Rams have played each other a lot lately. As much as the Rams have been pegged as one of the Eagles’ biggest threats, they’ve had a hard time putting the Birds away.
Last season, the Eagles dominated the Rams 37-20 on the road in November. The snowy playoff battle in round two was a tight matchup, which resulted in a 28-22 victory for the Eagles en route to their Super Bowl victory. In September of this season, the Rams had a shot at redemption. They dominated the Eagles for three quarters before dropping the ball.
Instead of having a walk-off field goal for a victory, the Rams watched the Eagles block the kick before a scoop-and-score to close out the game with a 33-26 win.
The Eagles will close out their schedule on Sunday afternoon against the Washington Commanders.
