The Philadelphia Eagles have seen some controversy in their passing game so far this season, as both A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith haven't been happy with their roles.
Smith and Brown have admitted as much publicly. Quarterback Jalen Hurts simply hasn't gotten them the ball enough over the first five games of the season, partly because Philly has been a run-heavy offense.
Nothing has changed so far for Smith in Week 6 against the New York Giants. Here's what's going on with Philly's No. 2 option.
Is DeVonta Smith playing tonight?
UPDATE: DeVonta Smith is on the board!
His first catch of the night came on Philly's third drive. He gained eight yards.
END OF UPDATE
UPDATE: No targets for Smith through two drives.
Brown hasn't been targeted, either. Meanwhile, Dallas Goedert has two receptions.
END OF UPDATE
Yes, Smith is active and on the field, but no targets were sent his way on the Eagles' opening drive.
Philly's first drive featured two big runs from Saquon Barkley, but Hurts only threw one pass that went for five yards before the Eagles were forced to settle for a field goal.
We'd like to say things will improve as the game progresses, but the first five weeks have shown that is not guaranteed.
