Can Eagles clinch NFC East over Cowboys on Saturday? Postseason scenarios for Philly image

The Philadelphia Eagles will play a massively important game against the Washington Commanders on Saturday in Week 16.

The Eagles enter this contest against an eliminated Commanders team with plenty to play for, as Philly has yet to officially punch its ticket to the postseason.

The Eagles are sitting in first place in the NFC East entering Saturday's game and Philly is staked to a commanding lead over the Dallas Cowboys.

According to the New York Times Playoff Simulator, Philadelphia sports a 99% chance to both make the playoffs and win the division, which means it's going to take a lot for the Cowboys to unseat them over the final three games.

Here's where things stand with the Eagles' chances of clinching the division and earning a playoff spot in Week 16.

Can Eagles clinch NFC East on Saturday?

Yes, the Eagles can win the division over the Cowboys by simply beating the Commanders on Saturday, according to the NFL playoff scenarios.

However, if the Eagles lose, they can still clinch. That will happen if the Cowboys lose to the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday.

If the Eagles tie the Commanders, they can still win the division in that scenario, also, but it would require the Cowboys tying the Chargers.

If the Eagles lose and the Cowboys this week, Dallas will remain alive in the division going into Week 17.

The Eagles sit in the No. 3 spot in the conference, but they cannot move up or down from that spot, regardless of their result.

Dallas closes out its season with contests against the Commanders and New York Giants over the final two weeks, while the Eagles draw the Buffalo Bills and Commanders again.
