The Bryce Huff saga is nearing its end in Philadelphia.

Per a Friday afternoon report from Adam Schefter, the San Francisco 49ers are working to finalize a deal with the Eagles for Huff, who signed with Philly in March of 2024 on a three-year deal worth over $51 million.

That contract wound up blowing up in GM Howie Roseman’s face, as Huff made little to no impact on the field — just two sacks on 23 total pressures — and ended up being a healthy scratch in Super Bowl LIX.

The 49ers always made sense as a possible solution for Philly, which has been searching for an exit plan from Huff’s terrible contract. Huff played his best football under coach Robert Saleh with the New York Jets, and Saleh is now back in San Francisco as defensive coordinator.

This move comes as no surprise in Philadelphia, as Huff was among the Eagles’ absent veterans at voluntary workouts this week.

Any trade involving Huff likely won’t be made official until after June 1 (for salary cap purposes), and it will be interesting to see how much cash the Eagles are eating in the deal. Huff was set to make over $17 million once again in 2025.
